Rev. Ronald A. Erbe fell asleep in Jesus on Sunday, March 13, 2016.

Our good and faithful servant was called home on Sunday. Pastor Erbe served First Lutheran from September 1979 until he retired in January 1999.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri on October 8, 1933. Beloved son of the late August and Bertha Erbe (nee Miehe) dear brother of the late Doris Erbe. Ronald graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri and served as vicar under the Rev. Arthur Clausing at Zion Lutheran Church, Stamford, CT. He was ordained a Lutheran minister in 1960 and ministered for the following 55 years. During his time in New England he served as Pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church in South Windsor, CT and First Lutheran Church in Greenwich, CT. He retired from First Lutheran. Ronald’s love of people and family and his deep spiritual commitment will be missed by all those he touched.

Ronald is survived by his beloved wife Irmi Goldschmidt Erbe, stepson James Goldschmidt, and his two daughters, Carolyn Leonard, her husband Frank of Ellington, CT, Katherine Chagnon and her husband Ronald of Tolland, CT, his compassionate and kind grandchildren, Ian, Daniel, Michelle, and Marc.

Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects on Wednesday, March 16 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, 38 Field Point Rd., Greenwich, CT 06830. Interment will be at Our Redeemer Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri on Friday, March 18, 2016.
